Crappie Basics #159 Get Shallow
“When you think you are fishing too shallow, shallow up some more. A lot
of people try to stay out in 6 or 7 feet of water, but if you want to have some
spider rigging fun, shallow up to about a foot and a half of water. Loosen the
drags a lot. Let out 12 inches of line. When you get to a school of crappie
it’s a lot of fun.
“I like 10-foot poles especially when guiding because most people just
can’t handle the longer ones. Hook a decent fish on a foot of line, have the
drag letting out line and then try to stop and land the fish. It’s tough. They
hit hard and take off. But it’s fun.” …Richard Williams
